The Waterlooplein market is one of the oldest flea markets in the Netherlands, established as a day market in 1885 in what was then Amsterdam's Jewish quarter. With around three hundred stalls of second-hand goods, vintage clothing and curiosities, it became internationally known during the hippie era of the 1960s and 70s.
